The wool for this yarn was grown in a small village in Northern Michigan by the Tower Family where the farm also produces eggs and sells organic coffee. The sheep are loved by this sweet family growing quality wool to make beautiful yarn.

Woolen Spun in Michigan

DK Weight, approximately 3.0 oz, approximately 250 yards.    

This yarn is soft, squishy, lofty and lightweight thanks to being woolen spun. It takes color well, while the fiber's matte surface gives the colors a soft, slightly muted quality. 

Consider this yarn an "Everyday Luxury"-for sweaters, shawls, cowls, hats, etc-that feels like an indulgence yet is sturdy enough for your everyday activities.

Minor bleeding may occur on first wash. Each skein is unique, purchase multi-skein projects together & alternate rows. Colors are shown as accurately as possible but Monitors will vary.

You can prolong the life of all textiles and colors by washing by hand in cool water and avoiding exposure to strong, direct, prolonged light. For yarn, air drying on a flat surface will prevent stretching and sagging. A neutral wool wash is recommended. I currently use non scented Eucalan or Orvus.

Where do your yarns come from?

At present, yarns come from the US, Britain and Canada. Bit by bit, I'm adding yarns made from small US farm wools. Some yarns are here for the long haul, others are limited editions.

Are natural dyes color fast and fade resistant?

There is an almost infinite number of natural dye sources but many are not light or wash fast. Flora Adora Fibers uses natural dyes that are known to have excellent to good light and wash fastness. Food grade mordants are used to bind dyes and permanently fix them to the fibers.

Both commercial and natural dyes will fade with extended exposure to strong light.

Washing yarns and finished projects in cool water with a pH neutral soap will further help maintain colors.
