The wool comes from Hidden Valley Farm in Wisconsin and was milled in Michigan. I purchased this in Michigan, washed and cleaned it, before sending off to the mill. It was a beautiful light gray-tan in the fleece and finished, is more tan than gray with a slight halo and sheen. I thoroughly  washed it again after milling to remove spinning oils and any remaining dirt.

The Coopworth breed was developed in the 1950’s using Border Leicesters and Romney. The fiber has lengthy staples, luster, good crimp and usually is best suited for for outerwear, such as hats or sweaters. There is a crisp hand which gives definition to stitch or weave.

Each skein is unique, purchase multi-skein projects together & alternate rows. Colors are shown as accurately as possible but Monitors will vary.

You can prolong the life of all textiles and colors by washing by hand in cool water and avoiding exposure to strong, direct, prolonged light. For yarn, air drying on a flat surface will prevent stretching and sagging. A neutral wool wash is recommended. I currently use non scented Eucalan or Orvus.
