(Update 3/28/23: the supplier says they are having a difficult time getting BFL fleece, so they don't know when this base will be available again). This base has been out of stock from the supplier since July 2022 due a BFL fiber shortage. It won’t be available until sometime in 2023, when the next wool crop comes in. So, no restocks til then.

100% Bluefaced Leicester wool from the British Isles

Non Superwash

246 yds/ 100g

Wonderfully soft, with a slight halo, and demonstrating BLFs characteristic luster and silkiness

This yarn has lots of “spring” just like the BFL wool itself. Makes pleasant, next-to-skin-soft but hard wearing sweaters, hats, and other accessories.

Consider mixing and matching BFL DK with Donegal Tweed DK and Highland DK, as they are all DK weight and have the same yardage. Mixing and matching adds textural interest and extends your color choices!

Minor bleeding may occur on first wash. Each skein is unique, purchase multi-skein projects together & alternate rows. Colors are shown as accurately as possible but Monitors will vary.

You can prolong the life of all textiles and colors by washing by hand in cool water and avoiding exposure to strong, direct, prolonged light. For yarn, air drying on a flat surface will prevent stretching and sagging. A neutral wool wash is recommended. I currently use non scented Eucalan or Orvus.
