Corriedale / Gotland DK is a naturally grey yarn spun in the UK. The yarn is soft, lofty with a natural crimp, wonderful luster, and subtle halo. 

Gotland wool is naturally grey which, when combined with the higher proportion of Corriedale wool, produces a light grey yarn with a gorgeous sheen.

The Gotland is an old long-haired breed of sheep originating from the island of Gotland in Sweden. The sheep has long, lustrous locks and the spun yarn is light and warm with a wonderful drape and subtle halo.

Corriedale wool also has a long staple, with a beautiful crimp that makes it naturally springy as well as cozy, durable and next-to-skin soft.

Care Instructions: Hand wash in cool water, using a wool detergent. Avoid wringing and twisting. Dry flat, do not sun dry, spin or tumble dry.

Where do your yarns come from?

At present, yarns come from the US, Britain and Canada. Bit by bit, I'm adding yarns made from small US farm wools. Some yarns are here for the long haul, others are limited editions.

Are natural dyes color fast and fade resistant?

There is an almost infinite number of natural dye sources but many are not light or wash fast. Flora Adora Fibers uses natural dyes that are known to have excellent to good light and wash fastness. Food grade mordants are used to bind dyes and permanently fix them to the fibers.

Both commercial and natural dyes will fade with extended exposure to strong light.

Washing yarns and finished projects in cool water with a pH neutral soap will further help maintain colors.
