·      Botanically Dyed: unique and vibrant colors derived from plants and other natural materials

·      Long Lasting Colors: only dye materials with excellent color fastness to washing and light are used. So you don’t need to worry about colors unexpectedly disappearing.

·      Minimally Processed Yarn: you might find a little vegetable matter in the yarn.

·      Sourced From Small Flocks and Farms in Canada & US: spun from a mixture of medium wools (Corriedale, Romney, Cheviot, Bluefaced are examples).

·      It’s Lofty: produces a lightweight but warm fabric, blooms with washing, and blocks exceptionally well.

·      Adaptable: can be knit/crocheted at a variety of gauges-fingering, sport, DK and even worsted.

·      Nonsuperwash: not treated with plastic or other chemicals, so needs to be washed by hand in cool water, then dried flat

Minor bleeding may occur on first wash. Each skein is unique, purchase multi-skein projects together & alternate rows. 

Colors are shown as accurately as possible but monitors will vary.

Wash by hand in cool water then dry on flat surface.  Using a neutral pH wool wash is recommended. Examples are Orvus, Ecover and other liquid dishwashing detergents, various wool washes. 

 Avoid exposure to strong, direct, prolonged light.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do your yarns come from?

At present, yarns come from the US, Britain and Canada. Bit by bit, I'm adding yarns made from small US farm wools. Some yarns are here for the long haul, others are limited editions.

Are natural dyes color fast and fade resistant?

There is an almost infinite number of natural dye sources but many are not light or wash fast. Flora Adora Fibers uses natural dyes that are known to have excellent to good light and wash fastness. Food grade mordants are used to bind dyes and permanently fix them to the fibers.

Both commercial and natural dyes will fade with extended exposure to strong light.

Washing yarns and finished projects in cool water with a pH neutral soap will further help maintain colors.
